During the Festival La Mercè in Barcelona, each year Plaça Sant Jaume is filled to the brim with thousands of locals and tourists alike, waiting to see the spectacle that is the castellers (in Catalan, castell means human tower). You know, I’m no stranger to doing crazy, adrenaline-pumping things, but this is a whole other level of dangerous that I’m only prepared to watch from the sidelines, cringing every time someone wobbles and it looks like there will be a fall. And they do fall, but just get up and try again… those are some incredible and brave people!
By the way, the view from top is even more impressive, though it’s near impossible to be allowed up there. Believe me, I tried 😉
I guess those guys didn’t feel like the human towers were exciting enough 😉
Hehe it’s amazing! You should check the “concurs” which is made every 2 two years in Tarragona, look at this video!:
Oh wow, Sergi, this looks so great! I can’t believe you’re doing it yourself — I’m part proud, part jealous 😉
Yes the castells are amazing!! Very important for catalan people!
