come with me to nepal

The time has come for yet another adventure!

This time I’m off to Nepal to do some trekking in the Himalayas for 2-3 weeks and I can’t tell you how excited I am about this! πŸ™‚ Going with a bunch of friends, including the guys I went to Africa and Scotland/Iceland with last year. This is our itinerary and plan more or less, though it might change dependent on the weather — check out this awesome blog post.

I thought I could make this post a little more informative / helpful and give some tips on what to pack, not forgetting the fact that my goal is to carry everything myself so I’m only taking the bare minimum in most cases. So here it goes:

– 1 hard shell jacket for those rainy / tougher conditions
– 1 ultralight down hoody to keep me warm even in the coldest of times at a fraction of the weight of normal jackets (something like 200g)
– 2 sets of trekking pants, 1 soft shell with 10,000mm rating and another lighter and quick-dry one for lower altitudes and inside cabins
– 2 sets of thermal underwear bottoms and 3 sets of thermal underwear tops (Merino wool for best results)
– 4-5 quick-dry shirts and t-shirts, including short and long sleeve ones
– 1 pair of havaianas
– trekking socks, 4-5 pairs
– waterproof gloves (that you can swipe phones with, super useful when you don’t want to take the glove off!) and a warm hat
– microfiber towel
– category 4 trekking glasses to protect you from the sun
– sunscreen and chapstick (very, very important)
– water bottle and tablets to purify water
– bio and organic energy bars called Roobar — too good!
– headlamp
– hand sanitizer
– maps and Lonely Planet books
– sleeping bag rated to 4 degrees Celsius
– passport, Euros and US dollars

All of this naturally excludes my camera equipment that includes:

– Canon 6D
– 3 sets of lenses — 16-35mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.4 and 70-200mm f/4
– 2 GND filters
– 1 remote control
– 1 extra battery
– 1 tripod

And that’s how it all looks before packing…

And miraculously it all fits in here! Either I’m getting good at packing light / smartly after the many trips I’ve had or my Lowepro pack is amazing πŸ˜‰

Please keep in mind half of what you see here is camera gear… Not bad πŸ™‚

See you in a few weeks πŸ™‚
