So what’s a good way to end a year and start the new one? Going to a remote village in Bulgaria is definitely one way to go about it 😉
Not long after dropping my bags off, I took my camera and went for a windy walk.
It had been snowing all day, which added to the scenery of the place.
I can easily see how villages such as this one can be cut off from the world in big snow storms… at least they have plenty of wood to keep them warm 😉
I doubt anyone would do 30 up a hill with a foot of snow, but then again who knows.
Remnant of the communist past.
Inside the fire was already crackling and people were getting ready for the festivities 😉
I slept in the sauna! It was comfier than expected 🙂
Jan 1st was all about skiing (at -20C, but that’s beside the point) and on Jan 2 we took the long way back through some very picturesque locations.
This is Dospat dam in the south of Bulgaria. Just look at the color of the water…
A cool mini island at the heart of the dam.
Roya (my friend’s incredible lab) was loving it 🙂
Water must have been close to freezing, but that did not stop her 😉
What a model!
So sending off 2014 and greeting 2015 might not necessarily have been the best day of my life, but it certainly was a good start 😉
