break of light

Waking up at 5am has its benefits. The otherwise crowded-by-day Angkor Wat temple in Cambodia was peacefully tranquil, with the hundreds of people silently awaiting the break of dawn and sharing the moment in quiet awe of the beautiful sight of the light slowly creeping in. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

Moral of the story: wake up that early more often. It’s worth it.

Just to show you what’s on the other side of the images 😉 Naturally, as the sun came up the magic of the moment was gone and things went back to normal with tourists buzzing around and vendors screaming “Brekfast, brekfast” as loud as they could, desperate to attract attention.
