What better to do on the day before Christmas than get up really early when everybody else is still sound asleep and do some hiking in the fresh winter air 😉 I’m lucky enough to live in a city that lies at the foot of a beautiful mountain and I try to take advantage of that as much as I can — like I did last year when the fogs had settled in (check it out, really).

We got there around 9am which is rather late for the sunrise, but the morning mists in the valleys below were still there to make the view even better.

Sofia from above is quite beautiful.
Cherni Vrah (literally “black peak”) in the distance. It’s only another hour or two further up but as tempting as it was, we had to turn back. Next time 😉

We will be out in nature for Christmas as a family probably on the Gulf Coast again (much like we did Thanksgiving). No people around and the WORLD — and the birds — all to ourselves. Cheers!

Really beautiful place…thank you for sharing…I will be walking early tomorrow with my neighbour along a country road in Ireland….winter solstice morning I drove one hour 15mins to walk on a fabulous beach ( the one where the movie Saving Private Ryan was shot) …enjoy the holiday season x
